Combat sports
Brazilian jiu-jitsu
BJJ is focused on mat fighting, and is practiced with a traditional kimono called a Gi, or without NoGi. Brazilian jiu-jitsu emphasizes leverage-based joint locks, chokes, sweeps, throws and allows gripping the gi. The sport was developed in Brazil at the beginning of the 20th century and is based on traditional Japanese jiu-jitsu and judo techniques.
Submission wrestling
Submission wrestling combines techniques from wrestling disciplines such as Brazilian jiu-jitsu, wrestling and judo. Techniques include various grips, ties, throws, lifts, joint lock and choke techniques. A rashguard is most commonly used in training, but the sport allows wrestling shoes, kimonos and shorts.
